And on this note, I will be leaving for phoenix tomorrow, assuming we actually get all our crap in the uhaul. I won't be posting for a week or so but hopefully I will find some post-worthy photos during our trip out west. Too bad tara can't come...I haven't swerved my new(er) car just yet. Have a good week, y'all!

Tara you might remember this hat:

Back then, it was Blue. Navy Blue. Heh!

Home Furnishings
I think we found a nice couple to take all our living room furniture. It is such a weight off of me to get rid of it. I'd like to get "better" furniture but I don't think we can really afford that type of thing now. I'd love a leather couch because they're cool and classy and allergen friendly...but they're also waaay too much $$$. We are in the lotto tonight so there is always a chance! Maybe Ikea will have some furniture we'd like...if nothing else everyone I know will get IKEA stocking stuffers this year. Yay!

Jobless Wonder
I'm not jobless -yet. I did get a lead on a job at ASU that is strikingly similar to what I do now. I applied and we'll see. It wasn't like a hopeless e-mail composition like the others were since I actually feel like I have a legitimate shot at this position. My boss also offered to call up the hiring scientist and talk to her for me. No need to bust out the big guns just yet. It's nice to know he's got my back though.

Ron, the firefighter who was supposed to buy our furniture, screwed us over. He seemed so nice! He said he'd go ahead and buy our couch, coffee tables and two side tables. When we called him to find out when the pickup was, he said he'd call right back...and never did. So now, with ONE WEEK to go I have to re-list our crap and hope somebody will take it away already. THANKS RON!

Not much else going on here. Our apartment looks a bit post-Katrina minus the water right now. Hopefully we can get all our crap packed up soon so I won't have to look at it anymore. Have a good one, kids!

end of *packing* day
it sure doesn't *seem* like I got a lot of work done today. But good news:

Soon we will be regulars to the IKEA in Tempe. Yay!!

Lately I've been working a lot of our family genealogy. In case you are curious about your family or would like to see some cool stuff, visit these websites:

www.ellisisland.org -you can search passenger logs for people coming through ellis island from all over the world. If you find a relative, you can view a scan of the actual page their name is written on.

www.jewishgen.org -this has a way to search the Ellis Island website by ship. Sometimes you click on a passenger name on the EI website and you go to view the manifest, but it links to the wrong ships' manifest. You can't search by ship name to find the right one on EI, but somebody over at JewishGen figured it out. No, I am definitely not Jewish.

www.familysearch.org - this one is run by the Mormon church. They also have free downloadable software you can use to organize all your info and you use the format in this program to submit your info/changes to their records.

You may think I'm a dork but I bet if you knew my great-great-grandpa was the first hispanic resident in Minnesota you might just think twice. And then you might still think i'm a dork. Ole!

Stuff and Things
I should have hired Jennifer's dad as a wedding planner. She's been engaged a whole week and already has her dress ordered, her ring, flowers picked out, photographer, reception restaurant, chapel, etc, etc. I think I didn't have half that picked out even a month before we actually got married. Ours turned out ok though so its all good. But man, he could've saved me a ton of work!!!

We are packing today. Wish us luck. We have waaay too much crap. If I don't come back soon, i've probably been taped inside a box.

Happy Friday
I have been so tired all week...I need to start going to bed earlier. Not much has been happening around here. Things are slowly finding their way into boxes. I hope it all fits in the stupid Uhaul trailer. Notre Dame and Michigan play tomorrow and we all know what that means for my house.

Jennifer got engaged over the weekend. She is a friend I met at my last job. She recently got back into mormonism. She met a guy two months ago, is now engaged and they are getting married in November. I really am happy for her and hope it all works out for the best. It IS fast but people still get arranged marriages in asia and they are doing well. My only hope is that the biological clock isn't a factor. Regardless, she will be a good wife and mother (haha probably soon!!) and that makes me happy knowing she is getting what she's always wanted and deserved.

Oh yes and Jennifer updated me on the lame former coworker, April. You remember, the one who would just not show up to work sometimes and call in sick every other week? She's pregnant again. Baby #3, daddy #3. The best part is, he doesn't even know! I think i might anonymously send her some condoms and a book about sex for dummies.

That's all I have for now! Later kiddos.

Gas Prices
I have absolutely no sympathy for people who are complaining about the gas prices. Did you really think it was going to stay at $1.30 forever?? All the dummies who bought their fancy SUV's and Hummers are can cry me a river. Does anyone ever say, "Gee, my car just doesn't get enough horsepower during my commute." Do those extra 2 or 4 cylinders, top speeds of 130 MPH, or off-roading packages really make a difference when you are sitting in traffic with everybody else?

Hopefully people will get a clue and join the rest of us poor folk in the sedan world. If nothing else, we'd all be on a more level playing field during car crashes. I hope the engineers at the Big 3 are paying attention.
